# SMTP

Connecting SMTP to PYLO, what it brings and how to tell it is working.

SMTP connects to PYLO so that:

- Email sent by published workflows, broadcasts and your team's replies through your own mail server. SMTP returns no events, so opens, bounces and complaints are not tracked.

## Connecting

SMTP connects by an API key you paste into PYLO. Open Settings, then Integrations, then SMTP.

| You provide | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| Host | Your mail provider's SMTP server. |
| Port | Usually 587, or 465 with TLS. |
| User | The SMTP user name. |
| Password | The SMTP password or app password. |
| TLS | true for port 465. |

## What PYLO reads

- Whether the server accepted each email

It does not read:

- Deliveries, opens, clicks, bounces and complaints
