# Competitions

Run team races on dials, sets, closes or cash, scored automatically from data PYLO already holds.

Competitions lets you run a race across your team for a set window, on dials, sets, closes or cash. PYLO keeps score from data it already holds, so nobody keeps a tally by hand, and settles the winner once the window closes.

## Who can open it

Competitions needs the **Pro** plan. On Basic you are sent to [My Board](/docs/features/my-board) with an upgrade note.

Every member can view competitions and their standings. Only owners, admins and ops can create, rename or delete one.

## The list

Each competition shows its title, metric, dates, prize and status:

- **Scheduled** before the window opens. Standings start filling when it does.
- **Live** while it runs, with the current leader and how many days are left. It settles overnight once the window has fully closed.
- **Ended** once settled. The winner is locked and does not change afterwards.

Click a competition to see the full standings, which update as calls and payments are logged. Winners also appear under Competitions won on each person's [My Board](/docs/features/my-board) data profile.

## Creating a competition

Click **New competition**, then fill in:

- **Competition name**
- **Metric**: Dials, Sets, Closes or Cash
- **Dates**: the start and end of the window. Both days are included.
- **Prize**: an amount, which is shown in your workspace currency, or any text such as "Weekend away"
- **Who takes part**: **Whole team**, where everyone with activity on the metric appears, or **By role**, where only the roles you pick appear

A preview shows how the competition will look before you save it.

## How each metric is scored

| Metric | What counts |
|---|---|
| Dials | Dials recorded by your connected dialler in the window |
| Sets | Calls booked with that person as setter, scheduled in the window |
| Closes | Calls marked closed won or deposit with that person as closer, scheduled in the window |
| Cash | Cash collected as closer plus cash generated as setter, from succeeded payments in the window, less refunds |

Sets, closes and cash use the same rules as the [Leaderboard](/docs/features/leaderboard). Only active closers with at least one live call count for closes and closer cash, and only active setters with at least three sets count for sets and setter cash. Voided calls never count.

## Common questions

**Why is someone missing from the standings?** They may have no activity on the metric in the window, may not be in a role you picked, or may not meet the leaderboard's minimum, such as three sets for a setter.

**Why is there no leader on a scheduled competition?** Standings only exist once the window has opened.

## What the figures mean

Each explanation below is generated from PYLO's metric registry, the same source Ask PYLO and Claude quote from, so the docs and their answers always agree.

### Standings

**Period, unless a figure says otherwise:** Bucketed on the call's scheduled date in the database server's timezone, not Europe/London.

#### Closes

Calls attributed to this closer that closed or took a deposit. No live-call filter, and the day is taken in the server's timezone.

#### Cash collected

Succeeded payments attributed to this closer, net of refunds attributed to them in the same period.

#### Sets

Calls attributed to this setter and scheduled into this period, whatever became of them.

#### Cash generated

Succeeded payments attributed to this setter, net of refunds attributed to them.
