# Layout

How to choose which sections your dashboard shows and in what order, preview the change, and go back to an earlier version.

Layout, titled Dashboard layout on the page, controls the order of the sections on your workspace's [dashboard](/docs/features/dashboard) and which of them appear. It is also where you can see a change an agent made to the dashboard and take it back, because an agent changes the layout through the same steps you do here.

## Who can open it

Owners, admins and ops users. Anyone else is sent to their own board.

## Change the dashboard

1. Each section is listed in its current order. A section marked "Shows only when this workspace has something to put in it" appears on the dashboard only when there is data for it.
2. Use the arrows on a section to move it up or down.
3. Use the eye icon to hide a section, or to show it again.
4. Choose `Show me what that changes`. Nothing is saved yet. PYLO lists each change with its before and after.
5. Choose `Save this layout` to store it, or cancel to leave everything as it was.

Once saved, you see "Saved as version", followed by the version number, and the dashboard shows the new layout straight away. If you try to place something PYLO cannot put on a board, it says so, suggests the nearest metrics it does have, and changes nothing.

## Versions and going back

Every save is kept as a new version. The line beside the buttons says how many versions are stored, or that the dashboard is showing the default layout.

Choose `Back to the previous version` to restore the one before. This saves the earlier layout as a new version rather than deleting anything, so you can change your mind again. If only one version exists, there is nothing earlier to go back to except the default.

## The role boards

`The role boards` shows what each role (closer, setter, SDR and owner) sees at the top of [My Board](/docs/features/my-board) today. This section is for reference only and cannot be edited here. Each item shows the name of the metric behind it, or says it is not a metric PYLO has declared.

## What PYLO can put on a board

The last card says how many declared metrics are available at your role. Every rate carries both of its sides, so a figure always says what it is a share of.

## What changes elsewhere

A saved layout changes the dashboard for everyone in the workspace immediately.
