# Onboarding templates

Edit the client onboarding checklist and the bootcamp new closers, setters and SDRs work through, or start again from PYLO's default.

Onboarding templates holds four lists your workspace works through: the seven-day checklist for your client, and a bootcamp each for new closers, setters and SDRs. Each starts as PYLO's default until you save your own copy.

## Who can open it

Owners, admins and ops users on the Pro plan. They all see `Onboarding templates` in the Settings menu. On a plan below Pro, opening it takes you to My Board with an upgrade prompt. Anyone else is sent to Account.

## What is on the screen

- Four buttons along the top: `Client onboarding`, `Closer bootcamp`, `Setter bootcamp` and `SDR bootcamp`. Choose one to edit it.
- A line saying whether you are looking at "PYLO's default" or "Your workspace's own copy".
- The template's phases, each with a name and its items.
- On the bootcamps only, a `Manager reviews` box beside each item. Ticked, a manager has to approve that item before it counts as done. The client checklist has no reviews, because you tick it yourself on [Client onboarding](/docs/settings/client-onboarding).

## Edit a template

1. Choose the template at the top.
2. Rename a phase or an item by typing over it.
3. Choose `Add an item` under a phase, or `Add a phase` at the bottom. New ones arrive named "New item" or "New phase", so rename them.
4. Choose `Remove` beside an item, or `Remove phase` beside a phase. A template keeps at least one phase, and each phase at least one item.
5. Choose the save button, such as `Save the closer bootcamp`.

A template can have up to 12 phases and 40 items per phase. Phase names can be up to 80 characters and item names up to 200. Nothing is kept until you save, and PYLO says why if a save is refused.

## Go back to PYLO's default

1. Choose `Start again from PYLO's default`. This only fills the editor with the default.
2. Choose the save button to keep it.

## Common questions

**Does renaming an item lose anyone's progress?** No. Progress belongs to the item, not its wording, so a rename keeps every tick and every rep's progress on it.

**Does removing an item and adding it back restore its progress?** No. The new item is a different item and starts from nothing.

**I switched templates without saving. Are my edits gone?** They stay in the editor while the page is open, but are lost when you reload or leave. Save each template before you move on.

**After going back to the default, it still says "Your workspace's own copy".** Saving the default stores it as your own copy. It matches PYLO's default at that moment, but will not follow later changes PYLO makes to its default.
