Commission

How to set commission rates that depend on where a deal came from, confirm them before they apply, and turn them off.

Read as Markdown

Commission holds rates that depend on where a deal came from. For example, you can pay closers a different rate on webinar deals from the rate they earn elsewhere. Anything with no rule here is paid at the person's own rate, which is set on Team.

Who can open it

Only owners and admins, because this decides what people are paid. Commission is not shown in the Settings menu for anyone else, and changes from any other role are refused.

The rules

Rules lists every rule in force, each with the date it applies from. With no rules, the page says "No rules yet. Everyone is paid their own rate."

If two rules cover the same case, a Two rules cover the same case warning appears at the top. PYLO reports the clash rather than quietly picking one, so turn one of them off.

Add a rule

  1. Under Add a rule, choose who it Pays: Closer, Setter or SDR (triage). This is the slot on the deal, not a job title. One person can be paid as setter and SDR on the same deal.
  2. Choose the Funnel: Any source, or one of VSL funnel, DM funnel, Webinar, Free community, Outbound, Low ticket or Website form.
  3. Enter the Rate as a percentage between 0 and 100.
  4. Optionally set Once the period passes to an amount of cash. The rate then applies only once the period's cash passes that amount, and deals before that point stay on the lower rate, which is how a tier reads on a payslip.
  5. Set the From date, which is today unless you change it.
  6. Choose Show me what that changes. PYLO shows the rate before and after, and what it does to figures already recorded.
  7. Confirm to save the rule, or cancel.

Backdated rules

If the From date is before today, any period that is not paid yet is recomputed at the new rate. A payout already recorded keeps the figure it was recorded with. A rule dated today or later changes nothing already recorded.

Turn a rule off

Choose Turn off beside the rule. Rules are turned off rather than deleted, because every payout line names the rule that paid it, and that line has to keep making sense.

If commission rules are not switched on for your workspace yet, the page says so, and every payout uses each person's own rate until PYLO switches this on for your workspace.

What changes elsewhere

Rules feed the commission worked out for each deal and the figures on Payouts. Which payments count at all is set by the payment verification basis on Tools.
