Messaging

Messaging setup

Choose PYLO's numbers and sending or connect the workspace's own Twilio account and email provider, add the DNS records, and set the compliance text every message carries.

Each channel chooses how it sends:

  • Use PYLO numbers and Use PYLO sending: PYLO buys the numbers and sends the email for the workspace, and everything is paid from the workspace's credits.
  • Connect my own Twilio and Connect my own: the workspace's own accounts. The client pays Twilio and their email provider directly, and PYLO does not bill for them.

A channel that is connected keeps its choice until it is disconnected, so a workspace never sends through two accounts at once. When the wallet is not switched on, the PYLO choice says why, and the own-account choice works as before.

PYLO numbers

  • Your numbers lists the numbers the workspace has, local or toll-free, with their monthly price and the next rental date. When a month's rental could not be paid, the number shows a warning with the date it will be released and a link to add funds. Release gives a number back to the carrier. It cannot be undone: PYLO cannot get the number back, and texts to it stop arriving.
  • Get a number: search by country, area code, digits the number contains, or toll-free. Each result shows its monthly price. Buy charges the first month to the wallet now. When the wallet is short, PYLO says how much it holds and what the month costs, buys nothing, and offers Add funds.
  • Carrier registration. US carriers only deliver business texts from a registered brand and campaign (A2P 10DLC), and PYLO files both for you. The fees are charged to the wallet at cost.
    • Brand: choose sole proprietor (a person with no EIN, one number, low volume), low volume standard (a business with an EIN sending under 6,000 texts a day) or standard (a business that sends more, with a secondary vetting). Then the legal name, EIN, type of business, website, industry, address and the contact carriers reach.
    • Campaign: what the texts are for, a description, 2 to 5 sample messages, how contacts agree to texts and the message they get, the opt-in page, privacy policy and terms (each a full https address), the replies to HELP and STOP, and the domains the texts link to.
    • The steps show where the registration stands. A rejection shows the carrier's code and its words, and the form can be sent again once it is fixed.
  • Toll-free verification. A toll-free number is verified on its own instead of the brand and campaign, and has no fee. Each toll-free number shows its status, or Verify this number: the legal business name, website, the kinds of message, what the texts are for, a sample message, how contacts agree and how many texts a month, a public link to a picture of the opt-in, the address and a contact. A rejection shows its words and the form can be sent again.

PYLO sending

Enter a sending subdomain such as mail.yourbrand.com, the from name and an address on that subdomain. PYLO sets the domain up and shows the DNS records to add, the same table as for your own provider below.

Your own Twilio

Paste the Account SID and Auth Token from the Twilio console, and the number to send from or a Messaging Service SID. A number or Messaging Service can send for one workspace only, so PYLO refuses one that another workspace already uses. List the domains your texts link to, as declared in your A2P registration, so PYLO can flag a link carriers would filter. After connecting, the card lists PYLO's checks, such as whether the number can send and whether the registration is approved. Check again runs them again.

Your own email provider

Choose Amazon SES or SMTP and enter a sending subdomain such as mail.yourbrand.com, the from name and an address on that subdomain, and the provider's credentials. For SES, also name the configuration set and the SNS topic SES publishes bounces and complaints to. PYLO ignores events from any other topic, so without it bounces and complaints are not read. PYLO then shows the DNS records to add, each with a copy button. Add them where the domain's DNS is managed and press Check again. On SMTP, PYLO cannot read bounces, opens or clicks, so those figures stay empty.

Compliance

  • Sender name starts the first text in a conversation.
  • Opt-out line follows it and has to say STOP, because carriers filter other wording.
  • Re-insert every sets how often, from 1 to 60 days, both are added again.
  • Test phones are the team's own numbers, the only ones Test with me may text.
  • Business name and postal address go in every email's footer, as US law requires.

When something holds an account, such as a workspace with no time zone set, the reason shows at the top of its card and on the Health tab.

WhatsApp

WhatsApp Business goes through Twilio, on the same Twilio account as SMS.

  • Your own Twilio. Register the WhatsApp sender in the Twilio console first (Messaging, Senders, WhatsApp senders). Then press Find my WhatsApp senders, pick it, and connect. PYLO points the sender's webhooks at itself, so replies land in Conversations.
  • PYLO's account. Paid from credits. Give the WhatsApp number, the WhatsApp Business Account id from Meta Business Manager and the display name Meta approved, and PYLO registers the sender.

Once connected, the card shows the sender's checks, the business name shown in messages and Meta's daily limit. A new business starts at 250 new conversations a day, and Meta raises it as quality holds up; set it to what Meta shows you so broadcasts plan their days correctly. Disconnect stops WhatsApp workflows and broadcasts.

WhatsApp prices on PYLO's account are on the Credits rate card: Twilio's fee for every message, plus Meta's fee by template category and country. Replies inside the 24-hour window carry no Meta fee for the first 1,000 a month.
